Two Cohen & Grigsby Directors Serve As Co-Authors for New Book On Dealing With Governmental Health Care Agencies

PITTSBURGH, PA – January 30, 2008 – Cohen & Grigsby, a business law firm with offices in Pittsburgh, PA; Bonita Springs, FL; and Naples, FL, is pleased to recognize W. Scott Hardy and John E. Lyncheski, directors in the Labor & Employment Practice Group, for serving as co-authors of Successful Strategies for Dealing with Government Agencies in Health Care Law (Aspatore Books, 2007). Successful Strategies for Dealing with Government Agencies in Health Care Law provides insight on representing and advising health care clients who are dealing with regulatory agencies. The book is co-authored by Lyncheski, Hardy, and five other attorneys. It covers a variety of topics, including:

  • Understanding the complex regulations of the health care industry and interacting with key government agencies (Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Justice, etc.) both when complying with regulations and when responding to an investigation.
  • Understanding the interactions between state and federal agencies, maintaining a rapport with important officials, and counseling clients on regulations such as HIPPA as well as recent changes in Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Labor and employment issues in health care law and dealing with the governmental agencies enforcing those laws, including the Department of Labor, the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, and the National Labor Relations Board.

“Health care is labor intensive, yet must demand high standards of its employees. This inherent conflict often results in personnel actions, which are frequently challenged before one or more government agencies,” noted Lyncheski

“John and I were pleased that we were invited to co-author a section of the book,” added Hardy. “With this guide, readers have access to first-hand analysis from leading lawyers practicing health care law.”
