Susanne is a Senior Partner and chairs the Firm’s International Business Group. She is a business and corporate attorney focusing her practice on counseling companies on international and domestic M&A transactions, joint ventures, emerging business, corporate governance, customs, export and licensing matters. She has been included in The Best Lawyers in America for International Trade and Finance and was selected to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list. Most recently, Susanne was named the 2018 and 2020 International Trade and Finance Law “Lawyer of the Year” in Pittsburgh by The Best Lawyers in America.

  • Negotiated and structured international and domestic acquisitions and joint ventures in the United States and abroad, including China, Europe, Korea, Brazil and Mexico, focusing on minimizing and safeguarding intellectual capital
  • Structured international and domestic product distribution and licensing systems that take into account the limitations imposed by local culture and law, while attending to the business needs of the client
  • Routinely counsels U.S. and foreign clients on how to structure joint ventures, M&A activities and greenfield business activities, including analysis of implications under CFIUS
  • Increasingly advises clients on the administration & petition for relief for Section 232 & 301 tariffs
  • Routinely represents clients on how to structure their export and import operations, including compliance programs (e.g. C-TPAT), audits and response to investigations
  • Routinely represents German and other foreign companies on how to structure their U.S. operations, corporate governance and organizational structures
  • Frequently participates in public speaking opportunities and seminars that focus on best practices for conducting business in the United States, international business transactions, export control (EAR and ITAR) and customs. For example, Susanne participated as a speaker in an internationally attended seminar sponsored by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on how to establish a presence in the United States.
