Doug has more than 21 years of experience in assisting employers, administrators, fiduciaries and other clients with implementing and administering broad-based employee benefit programs, including welfare benefit plans and tax-qualified retirement plans. He guides clients on complying with nondiscrimination, reporting, disclosure and fiduciary requirements relating to benefit plans and trusts. He also provides advice in mergers and acquisitions with regard to benefits, compensation and related employee transition matters, including administration and integration of benefit plans, treatment of equity awards and structuring of severance or retention arrangements.

In addition, Doug assists a variety of public, private and nonprofit employers, as well as private equity funds and emerging growth businesses, to develop, implement and manage executive incentive and equity compensation arrangements, including stock options and restricted stock, profit interests, SERPS, change-in-control and severance agreements. He relies on an extensive knowledge of tax, securities, accounting, ERISA and corporate governance rules and practices to address the compensation and benefits issues faced by his clients. Prior to joining Cohen & Grigsby, Doug was Senior Counsel for a national law firm in the Employee Benefits/ERISA & Compliance and Labor & Employment Practice Areas.
