Cohen & Grigsby Photo Exhibit Honors Local Veterans

PITTSBURGH – Nov. 11, 2014 – This Veterans Day, business law firm Cohen & Grigsby is honoring local veterans through a special photo exhibit in the lobby of EQT Plaza, 625 Liberty Avenue, where its offices are located in downtown Pittsburgh. The display showcases veterans who participated in Cohen & Grigsby’s Veterans History Project (VHP) last year. The photos were taken by artist Shelley Lipton, who donated her time for the project. The exhibit also includes a unique collection of Soldiers and Sailors veteran’s memorabilia photographs by David Aschkenas, whose work will be featured in the firm’s C&G Gallery space starting Nov. 20.

“We are proud to display this distinguished collection of photographs that show our local veterans who bravely shared their personal wartime stories as part of the Veterans History Project,” said Jack Elliott, president and CEO of Cohen & Grigsby. “We thank these and all veterans for their service on Veterans Day and always, and hope that these photos will inspire individuals to pause for a moment of gratitude for all those who served our country.”

Last November, Cohen & Grigsby hosted veterans at its offices as part of the Veterans History Project. During this time, court reporters, videographers and interviewers captured and transcribed the veterans’ personal wartime stories. The recorded interviews are being stored at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress as educational resources for future generations.

The United States Congress created the Veterans History Project in 2000 as part of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. Its mission is to collect, preserve and share the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and understand the realities of war. In addition to audio- and video-recorded oral histories of veterans, the VHP also showcases documentary materials such as photographs and manuscripts as educational resources for Congress and the general public.
