Cohen & Grigsby Attorneys Receive Favorable Court Ruling
On May 21, attorneys Cliff Levine, Alice Mitinger, and Alex Lacey obtained a favorable court ruling from the en banc Commonwealth Court on behalf of the Bedford County Commissioners. The Court granted summary relief on all counts in an action that the Commissioners brought against Bedford County’s President Judge, arising from a dispute over the control and authority over three separate funds of court-collected fees and penalties. The Court recognized that the President Judge had exceeded his authority in holding one fund in a bank account outside of the county treasury, for which the judge and a county probation officer were the sole signatories. The Court granted the County Commissioners all of the relief requested, including the reimbursement of funds. The Bedford County Commissioners are pleased to have this long-standing county dispute resolved in their favor.
