Award is Boy Scouts of America’s Highest Commendation for Noteworthy Contributions to Youth
PITTSBURGH, PA – June 2, 2010 – Cohen & Grigsby, a business law firm with headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA and an office in Bonita Springs, FL, is pleased to announce that attorney R. Michael Daniel was recently honored with the Silver Buffalo Award by the Boy Scouts of America. Created in 1925, the Silver Buffalo is scouting’s highest commendation for distinguished service to youth. Recipients of the Silver Buffalo include every U.S. president since Calvin Coolidge; astronaut Neil Armstrong; baseball giant Hank Aaron; aviation pioneer Charles A. Lindbergh; and artist Norman Rockwell.
“I have been in scouting for 55 years and to be recognized with this award is quite a thrill,” Mr. Daniel said. “It’s a very humbling experience to be mentioned in the same breath as past winners of the Silver Buffalo.”
Mr. Daniel is a member of the Estates & Trusts Group at Cohen & Grigsby. With more than 35 years of legal experience, he concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, charitable planning, and estate and trust administration. He lectures extensively and has written numerous articles on estate planning and estate administration topics. Mr. Daniel is a retired colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. An Eagle Scout as a youth, he also received the Silver Beaver and Silver Antelope awards from the Boy Scouts of America.
“Mike Daniel is representative of the integrity and character that forms the foundation of the Boy Scouts of America,” said Jack Elliot, president and CEO of Cohen & Grigsby. “The same valuable attributes inform what we like to call our ‘Culture of Performance’ at Cohen & Grigsby. As an attorney, Mike serves his clients with the same core values that earned him this prestigious recognition.”
Daniel received the award on May 28 during a ceremony at the Boy Scouts of America National Annual Meeting, which was held in Dallas, Texas.
