Cohen & Grigsby Appoints New Associate to its Intellectual Property Group
PITTSBURGH – August 20, 2014 – Business law firm Cohen & Grigsby is pleased to announce that Michael E. Dukes has joined its Intellectual Property Group in Pittsburgh. The new associate is a registered patent attorney with a background in chemistry and material science. He concentrates his practice in the area of intellectual property portfolio development and management, including patent preparation and prosecution, trademarks, licensing, and strategic counseling.
Dukes counsels companies of all sizes in the fields of chemistry, polymers, material science, and biotechnology. His patent prosecution experience covers a wide variety of technologies, including chemical processing and synthesis, metallurgy, food and agricultural sciences, consumer products, and energy and clean technology. Dukes also advises clients on a variety of strategic intellectual property and business issues, including IP audits, freedom-to-operate, patent validity, and patentability. In addition, he has extensive experience negotiating and drafting a wide range of IP-related agreements.
Dukes earned a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, a Master of Science in chemistry from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Washington & Jefferson College. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
