Alyze L. Pierce joins the Litigation Group as an Associate. She concentrates her practice in the area of general commerical litigation matters. Ms. Pierce earned her B.A. (With Honors; With Distinction; Recognized Thesis Award, Senior Year Honors Thesis; Scholar-Athlete, 1995-97) from Stanford University in 1997 and her J.D. (Semi-finalist, Ames Moot Court Competition; Editor, Civil Rights/Civil Liberties Law Journal) from Harvard Law School in 2000. Ms. Pierce is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations and a co-founder of the Richard N. Lowen Special Olympics Program. She has served as an assistant in a music therapy for autistic children and a volunteer in the California Special Olympics. Prior to joining Cohen & Grigsby, she was an associate with the law firm of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart in Pittsburgh. Ms. Pierce resides in Squirrel Hill.
Marc P. Taxay joins the Business Group as an Associate. He concentrates his practice in the areas of securities, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate law representing technology companies in all stages of development. He has represented venture capital firms and start-up and growth companies in private financings as well as underwriters and emerging companies in initial and secondary public offerings. Mr. Taxay has also assisted U.S. and foreign clients in complying with their requirements as U.S. reporting companies and has counseled both private and public companies in their mergers and acquisitions activities. He earned his B.A. in Honors Political Science and Economics (High Honors; High Honors Award for Political Science Thesis) from The University of Michigan in 1990 and his J.D. (Student attorney, Child Advocacy Law Clinic) from The University of Michigan Law School in 1993. Prior to joining Cohen & Grigsby, Mr. Taxay was an associate with the law firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto. He resides in Squirrel Hill.
