An attorney in Cohen& Grigsby’s Litigation Group, Michael counsels and represents clients in a broad range of disputes including trade secrets and restrictive covenants, contract litigation, insurance coverage, construction litigation, oil and gas disputes, and real estate taxation. Michael is currently representing clients in matters relating to Allegheny County’s countywide reassessment and the resulting assessment appeals and litigation, providing advice regarding informal reviews, formal appeals, and property valuations.
While attending the Duquesne University School of Law, Michael was a Summer Associate with Cohen & Grigsby and a law clerk with a Pittsburgh-based insurance defense firm. At Duquesne, Michael was the Editor-in-Chief of the Duquesne Law Review and received the Carol Los-Mansmann Award for Excellence in Appellate Advocacy.
Prior to law school, Michael was a counselor and caseworker working with juveniles in court-ordered residential treatment and worked as a research and teaching assistant while earning a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy from Villanova University.
Michael wrote "Title VII’s Anti-Retaliation Provision Prohibits Any Employer Conduct That Might Dissuade a Reasonable Worker from Making or Supporting a Charge of Discrimination: Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Ry. Co. v. White," 126 S.Ct. 2405 (2006), 45 Duquesne Law Review 761. He also wrote "A Dancer’s Virtue: Human Life in Light of Nietzsche’s Eternal Recurrence," Concept XXVIII in 2005.
