Marie is an Associate in the Labor & Employment Group and represents and counsels a diverse group of clients in a vast array of employment-related matters. She focuses on employment, labor and commercial litigation.
Experience
Prior to joining Cohen & Grigsby in 2007, Marie was a law clerk for a year for Judge Gary Lancaster in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. She worked as a litigation associate at Reed Smith from 2005-2006.
Before starting her legal career, she was a Coker Fellow Teaching Assistant for Professor Stephen Carter at Yale Law School from 2004-2005. She was student director of Community Lawyering for the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization at Yale Law School from 2003-2005.
Additional Roles
Marie is active in professional and community organizations. She currently chairs the Hispanic Attorneys Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association and is involved in the Young Lawyers Division of the ACBA. She is also a member of the ACBA Minority Collaborative and the American Inns of Court. She became a board member in 2008 for Venture Outdoors and the Midwife Center for Birth and Women’s Health.
Honors and Achievements
While working towards her J.D., she was honored with the MALDEF Law School Scholarship for Academic Achievement. MALDEF, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, is a leading nonprofit Latino litigation, advocacy and outreach institution in the United States.
Marie presented information on "Family Responsibilities Discrimination" during Cohen & Grigsby’s Employment Law Update in 2008.
She is fluent in Spanish.
