Henry specializes in the areas of estate and trust planning and administration, estate and gift taxation, personal and fiduciary income taxation, wealth preservation, retirement planning and tax-exempt entity issues. He serves in an Of Counsel capacity at Cohen & Grigsby and is a member of the Estates and Trusts and Tax Groups.
Experience
Prior to joining Cohen & Grigsby as an Associate in 1999, Henry was a Partner in the Wealth Preservation Group at Titus & McConomy. He was responsible for complex estate planning and administration of estate/gift and income taxation.
He was an Associate and eventually a Shareholder at Springer, Bush & Perry, where he worked from 1984-1997. He also served as assistant vice president of the Personal Services Group and was responsible for serving a client base of approximately 150 individuals.
Henry was a senior law clerk from 1981-1984 for Pennsylvania Superior Court Judge Justin Johnson. He was responsible for researching and drafting proposed appellate opinions involving civil, family and criminal law.
After receiving his law degree, he worked as an Associate at Costello & O’Toole in North Versailles, Pa. from 1980-1981.
Additional Roles
Devoting time to professional and community activities is important to Henry. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and serves as a member of the Probate & Trust Law Section Council of the Allegheny County Bar Association. He has also served on the Real Property Section of the ACBA.
During the past decade, his involvement in professional organizations has included serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh and a member of the Allegheny Tax Society. His community activities have included serving as chair and member of the Codes Review Board for the Municipality of Mt. Lebanon; secretary of the Board of Managers for the Learning Disabilities Foundation of America; and as a member of the Board of Directors for Mainstay Life Services.
Honors and Achievements
Henry is listed in Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who Among Rising Young Americans and Two Thousand Notable American Men.
He often presents lectures for the National Business Institute Inc. and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. He has been a presenter on numerous topics, including "Exempt Organizations and Charitable Activities in Pennsylvania," "Charitable Giving Techniques in Pennsylvania," "Essentials of Pennsylvania Practice," "Ethical Issues Regarding Estate and Elder Law" and "Living Trusts and Other Estate Planning Alternatives in Pennsylvania."
