Brandon is an Associate in the Business Group at Cohen & Grigsby and has a background working at the U.S. Department of Justice and on Capitol Hill. He focuses his practice on general corporate matters for a wide range of industries.

Experience

Prior to starting his career with Cohen & Grigsby in 2008, Brandon was a law clerk at Hill & Kehne, LLC in Washington, D.C. At Hill & Kehne, Brandon aided corporate clients in complex antitrust disputes and focused on matters involving environmental insurance and federal permitting requirements for emerging renewable energy companies.

Brandon was also a paralegal at the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division, from 2004-2007. He was responsible for organizing and facilitating joint Department of Justice/Federal Trade Commission public hearings on Section 2 of the Sherman Act that culminated in a joint Agency report on Section 2 issues.

His experience at the Department of Justice also included drafting legal memoranda on civil and criminal antitrust matters for the Legal Policy Section deputy chief, chief and assistant attorney general. He also researched legal issues and drafted portions of appellate briefs; compiled information for the deputy assistant attorney general and the assistant attorney general in preparation for congressional testimony and oversight hearings; aided attorneys in filing briefs, motions and legal documents; and frequently edited internal memoranda, court filings, legal articles, speeches, presentations, testimony and press releases.

In addition, Brandon managed the assistant attorney general’s congressional correspondence, including oversight of the response-drafting process, issue research, internal document tracking and implementation of an electronic system for archiving matters. He also designed several Web pages and legal resources for internal and public use.

While serving as an intern in the Office of U.S. Representative Thomas Petri in 2003, Brandon attended congressional briefings, conducted constituent tours, aided with casework and performed various administrative tasks.

He was also an intern in the Office of U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum in 2002-2003. He assisted with constituent casework, aided the staff in preparation of congressional and presidential functions and performed general office duties.
