Ana María is a member of the Immigration Group where she provides counsel on employment–based temporary and permanent visa categories to small- and medium-sized for profit organizations and large multinational companies, as well as on family-based permanent residence applications to individual clients. Ana María’s clients include companies in such industries as chemicals, pharmaceutical, medical, financial services, engineering, information technology, nuclear, and steel. 

Experience

Ana María advises employers on a wide variety of immigration issues, including temporary and permanent visa options, H-1B dependant employment and I-9 compliance.  Her immigrant visa practice focuses on EB-1 and EB-2 preference petitions for scientist, athletes, musicians and engineers as well as on labor certification (PERM).  She practices before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Consulates, U.S. Administrative Appeals Office and related government agencies.

Prior to starting her practice at Cohen & Grigsby, Ana María was a Litigation Associate at Jones Day from 2002 to 2006.  She served as a Legislative Programs Officer at the U.S. Department of State, (OFM/DMV) in Washington, D.C. (2000), a Legal Fellow at the Center for Justice and International Law in Washington, D.C. (1999) and a Fellow at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Paris, France (1996).

Ana María has also travel around the world, spending time in India, Indonesia, China, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, South Africa and Kenya.

Additional Roles

Ana María is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Hispanic Attorneys Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association and served as regional vice president for the Hispanic National Bar Association in 2003-2004.
