As an associate in the Business Group, Mr. Fruehauf concentrates his practice in international transactions and trade regulation, public finance and private equity transactions and other regulatory and transactional areas. Prior to joining Cohen & Grigsby, Mr. Fruehauf was associate counsel for import-export matters with Alcoa, Inc. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and an associate with the law firm of Covington & Burling resident in its Washington, D.C. office, where he practiced in both the International and Financial Services practice groups. He also has served in the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Arms Control & Disarmament Agency in positions responsible for nonproliferation and export control matters.
Rich’s areas of interest include:
- General corporate and business matters, including government contracts
- International commercial and investment transactions, including contract manufacturing and distribution agreements
- Regulation of international transactions, including export control licensing, classification and compliance programs under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Export Administration Regulations, and sanctions of the Office of Foreign Assets Control, import regulations of BATF and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, antiboycott compliance, Exon-Florio (CFIUS) matters, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act counseling
- Financial institutions, includng USA Patriot Act and other regulatory areas
- Public finance and private equity transactions
