Our Approach
Cohen & Grigsby, formed in 1981 as a spin-off from Reed Smith, has over 100 attorneys practicing in various areas of the law, including bankruptcy, business and tax, emerging business, estates and trusts, immigration, intellectual property, international business, litigation, labor and employment, and mergers and acquisitions. An entrepreneurial environment is fostered at Cohen & Grigsby and now, 25 years later, the firm has grown 1500 percent since inception. Many of our attorneys have joined us from large, nationally-known firms. The firm is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has three offices in Southwest Florida. Our clients range from private and publicly held businesses, multinational corporations, nonprofit organizations, individuals, and emerging companies.
Our Focus on Business
Today, clients expect and want more than legal advice; they want you to address their problems. Often, those problems have more to do with business than the law. To help them, you must understand their business. This is an underlying principle of our firm. Our lawyers aren't just legal advisers, they're business advisers. That's the extra value we bring to all of our clients.
Our business focus means discussing goals and priorities. It means paying attention to our clients' personalities and the way they approach business decisions. It means knowing everything--from knowing who the competition is, to understanding which raw materials are critical to the client, to recognizing the potential for global commerce.
When a lawyer understands a client's business, a relationship akin to a partnership develops. It makes the entire process more meaningful and more rewarding. This is Cohen & Grigsby's commitment to all of our clients.
